Like Roadkill

Most days of the week I have to be up before the sun (literally), so usually I am finding myself driving along a dark highway with 0-2 cars in sight. Occasionally there is le roadkill. The other day I thought I saw a dog running along in front of me until I drove closer and a deer veered right to hop out of the way just as I hit the brakes. It's pretty cold this early in the morning (twilight?), but pretty warm by the time afternoon hits.

It makes me sad every time I see roadkill. I'm used to it, but it doesn't stop me from feeling like some drive way too fast, running over a poor innocent lost soul, unloved at the end of its life. These speed through life with a focus on some next great thing they need to accomplish, have to, right now get it done, and kill their loved ones along the way. They don't see while they are plowing through whatever work needs to be taken care of first. They plow right through someone who needs their love and attention and without meaning to, leave them all used up on the side of the road.

Fight for love. It's the only thing worth fighting for because without it, what will we have left?

some things are worth fighting for, some things are too risky. in the end it's really only worth it if it pays off otherwise it's a wasted effort.

i'm beginning to realize that if you fight for something and don't gain it(or keep it if it's something you already have) then not only do you lack what you fought for, but you lose the energy, strength and conviction you used in the fight. so, to answer your question.. i'd still have my dignity.

Well said! :)

There is a tendancy to keep going and going to achieve 'the goal' not realising that every oppertunity we put aside may not be there once we have arrived.

It may not be worth fighting for everything, but ask yourself, witch is worse fIghting for everything, or fighting for nothing. I don't have many friends but I'd fight for any of them. Even the one's that forget to call.

Once my grandpa actually did go out hunting, caught a pheasant, then invited the neighbors over and told them it was roadkill.
Later the neighbors came over and told us, "You're grandparents are crazy! You won't believe what they served us!!"

Accomplishing things is great, but what does it mean, if we leave behind, those people who matter the most to us? Love is supreme for sure, and everything else, is empty without it. Great entry!
